Winter garden

It's July already.
Our green apples make
lovely treat for the birds.

Silver eyes are busy munching
juicy apples.
Yum, yum.

We are fortunate to have
four apple trees in our garden
so there's enough for all of us to enjoy
during the winter.

End of Autumn

Dahlia is one of my favorite  care free flowers.
You just plant its tuberous root once and it multiples year after year.
Most of the dahlias in our garden have finished their season already.
This tree dahlia is the last dahlia to bloom in Autumn and
finishes with the first frost.
We had a hail and sleety Winter-like weather today.
May is nearly over now.

Wish has come true

Several years ago, I found a lovely house with lots of
pretty toadstools in its garden while I was walking
around our neighborhood.
And before the following autumn, that house was sold
and its garden was fully re-landscaped.
There is no pretty toadstools in that garden any more.
But they are here in my driveway.
How they came about is mystery yet their pollen could
travel with cats and dogs.

Cup week

It's Cup week in Canterbury.
Although our city is not fully recovered from
earthquake yet, some normal life are coming back.
Not everyone can enjoy horse race and bubblies
but I'm sure anyone can smell the roses and
so many other blooming flowers now.
The scent of flowers lift our spirits.

Ladies day

When I went to Japan a couple of years ago,
I saw this rose poster at the train station.
Instantly, I thought I had to see this exhibition.

But I was with my elderly mother who had
a knee problem at the time.
There was no way she can walk to the museum.
So I asked her to wait at the station
and ran to the museum all by myself.

The show was so wonderful!
Many master pieces done by
Redoute and Parsons were breath taking.
And the rooms of this show was  actually
filled with rose scent infusing through
air conditioners.
Such a great idea by curators.

I still don't know what was the special occasion though
the day I visited the museum was " Ladies day " and
every female visitors got a free pass.

Daffodil

Daffodils bring gorgeous scent of

spring.

Quietly but surely.

Gold fish would be dazzled

if they could swim amongst

these spring beauties.

Dahlia

I like bulb and tuber flowers.
Once they were planted into the soil,
come out to say " hello "
year after year.

The second teapot aquarium captured
sweet dahlias.

Flower show

We went Ellerslie International Flower Show a while ago.
Last year's event was cancelled because of earthquake
so we were looking forward to this year's show.
Fishing guy fishing New Zealand?
One of award winning displays.

Rose garden filled with so many different kind of roses.

Sweet vege garden complete with scarecrows.
Although we don't see crows in Christchurch.
Outdoor lounge.
