Easter holiday

It's Easter already.

We used to color eggs when we were little.

But it replaced by chocolate eggs these days.

I baked banana chocolate cup cakes with cocoa cream &

speckled egg chocolates on top.

Easter is the beginning of Autumn in southern hemisphere.

Mushrooms and toadstools are popping up to say hello.

Sad departure

Yesterday was the memorial day of my darling cat Hagi.
After she's gone, she has sent lovely kittens to look after our family.

And I heard the news that Tama the famous cat station master
died on monday.
She must be sad to leave her human family but very happy to see her
mom and sisters in Kitty heaven.
Tama, you are infinite light.

My little Ninja Cat

I have been reading Erin Hunter's
Warriors series which gave me
this inspiration what my cat might be
doing when she goes out during the night.

A new year has come !

The first day of 2015 was a lovely sunny day
here in Christchurch.

We harvested ume plums from our garden.
Little ones we collected earlier became plum vinegar.
And these one will be umeboshi using red shiso leaves.

We enjoyed mother's traditional Japanese new year's feast
called osechi.
Each ingredients represent meanings like  happiness,
well being, wisdom, prosperity and so on.
Living in the other side of the world & season, it's not
possible to have all the ingredients needed, but we are so
lucky to be able to have home made osechi.

Wish you all happiness and harmony through out this year.

Kimono cat

To become a Kimono beauty,
you need to have a certain figure.
Pettit, narrow & slant shoulder,
no bumps & curves yet not so skinny.
These days, even Japanese girls
rarely have this kind of figure.
Cats might be the only creature fit
into this description.

Winter garden

It's July already.
Our green apples make
lovely treat for the birds.

Silver eyes are busy munching
juicy apples.
Yum, yum.

We are fortunate to have
four apple trees in our garden
so there's enough for all of us to enjoy
during the winter.

Wet & cold

It's been too wet to go out and about.

So a small sewing project has began.

Up-cycled wrapping papers can be

reborn as a good sewing pattern.

And my little felt pin cushion is very

kawaii & handy, isn't it?
